Design Education

I used to teach Industrial Design and Interaction Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. I enjoyed teaching, as it afforded me the opportunity to reflect and theorize about Design without the pressures of "real life" upon me.

I think it is important to archive and accumulate knowledge related to the field of Design, and these pages attempt to catalog some of my thoughts and lectures as well as some of my student's work. Additionally, you can find my teaching philosophy (or "pedagogy") and some of my concerns with the nature of design education and curricula.

design courses

I have proposed, developed, and taught classes in Industrial Design and in Interaction Design. Listed here are the classes and their respective course content; I have also archived some of the work my students produced in the classes.

Philosophy

I have some thoughts about what it means to teach, and learn, Design. These thoughts are related to the notion of iterative and user centered design process. They usually relate to a balance of doing, thinking, and questioning.
