Student Work Examples: Ambient Atmos
Ambient Atmos is a digital lifestyle/fashion accessory that illustrates the natural sky's current conditions. Housed in a sleek stainless steel and gunmetal enclosure, the Atmos connects to a nationwide wireless network to display the hue of the sky at your exact location. Its unique ball and socket hinge provides full movement of the chain, so the piece remains exceptionally versatile, yet extremely sleek. Finally, fashionable ambient technology that connects you to nature no matter where you are.
The Ambient Information Network allows the Atmos to receive real time data regarding the current sky. This information is sent by a network of Motorola wireless towers to a pager chip inside the device. This chip decodes the information and displays 1 of 37 colors of its color pallet. The color is displayed using a matrix of light emitting diodes.
