It's been a month since I created my initial space of inquiry exploration on what I’m interested in and what I want to focus on; I’m feeling a little buckshotish about the papers I’ve been reading, so I took a bit and reflected on what I’m finding interesting, and where my curiosities are expanding (or contracting.)
I’m feeling Very Done with cognitive psychology’s views into creativity. I’m not ready to give up on this entirely, but I need to get away from the either overly abstract, or overly pedantic, views of how people think about new ideas and what constitutes creativity at all.
I also want to minimize a focus on education, but come back to it once I have a more condensed sense of where studio environments play into the overall picture of designing things.
I’m circling back towards the theories of design and the studies of design in practice, and I want to revisit the reflective practitioner work and the related ideas, but try to stay away from design science. And, I’ll try to emphasize papers that live in the overlap of actual design work happening, and craft/material/sketching/iteration as ways towards bringing things to life.
